The Bolivian Political Crisis of 2019

Bolivia, like any country, has its history. In the case of Bolivia, the author’s home country, there is a fact that has to be worth knowing: the chapter in Bolivia’s history in which it found itself on the verge of a total socialist dictatorship. The events that occurred between October and November 2019 can be considered extraordinary. The October 20th elections were considered by Evo Morales as an opportunity to further consolidate his power and abandon certain founding principles that Bolivia had lived by for decades. On the contrary, they were actually the spark that activated massive protests throughout the country to rise up against his attempt at dictatorial rule. As has happened in other historical events in Bolivia, the police joined these protests, ending up forcing Morales to present his resignation and then flee the country. This thesis relates those events in great detail to readers because the world needs to hear this story.
